Royal Cosun Environment Report 2003

The report presents the companies and their sites on the basis of their activities and the implications of these activities for the environment. Some aspects are addressed repeatedly throughout the report, such as reducing the impact of production facilities on their immediate surroundings and cutting the consumption of packaging material, while others concern just one or few activities. This report covers a total of 28 national and international sites, over which Cosun has complete control.

Topics
The environmental aspects are discussed by topic. This approach reflects the layout of National Environment Policy Plan 3. Adjusted to take account of the circumstances at Cosun, the layout is as follows:

The future
This environment report dovetails with our efforts to conduct our business in line with the principle of sustainability. The focal points for 2004 include:

  • A long-term policy plan;
  • Improving the cost-effectiveness of environmental activities;
  • Introduction of emissions trading;
  • Cutting the consumption of packaging materials;
  • Further energy savings;
  • Further application of the GRI guidelines in this report.

In the report covering 2004 we will return to these matters and document our progress in the pursuit of these goals.
