Suiker Unie: Much more than just sugar
 

How we sweeten life. This is the name of the new Suiker Unie brochure. "An important step towards broad and intensive communication with our customers", explains Product Manager Anne-Marie Bastiaansen. "Above all, they need additional technical information."

Suiker Unie, a reliable supplier of high quality sugar, has grown to become an active, involved, modernising and co-participating total supplier of natural sweetening products, with a thorough understanding of the food industry.

Alongside sugar in all its variants and special forms, such as compressed sugar and mixed syrup, the business group also supplies fructose syrup produced by Sensus. Suiker Unie also provides all kinds of services.

Anne-Marie: "For instance, we can manage our customers' silo stocks via the Internet. We also have a web portal that enables customers to access information about their products, payments, etc. after entering their password. Furthermore Cosun Food Technology Centre, as an engine of innovation, has a huge fund of knowledge from which our customers can also benefit. CFTC can find out which combination of sweeteners provides the greatest sweetening power, for example."

Insufficient awareness
According to Anne-Marie, customers are insufficiently aware of the availability of such information and services. "On the other hand, research has shown that customers increasingly expect support in their production processes and in the development of formulas. In particular, there is a big demand for technical information. We aim to satisfy this demand as rapidly as possible.”

“We demonstrate that we can do a lot more than people expect. The constant theme is that we, as a specialist in sweetening, want to make everything as easy as possible for our customers. Hence the double meaning in our pay-off 'How we sweeten life'. It is all about customer choice. Do you want to order via the web portal? Should we manage your sugar stocks automatically? Do you want a SAP-SAP link? Everything is possible."

Organic sugar
There are a number of other 'manifestations' under the motto 'How we sweeten life'. These include advertisements in trade journals, press reports and a brochure about organic sugar. Anne-Marie continues: "And leaflets about, for example, our logistical services and silo management. We also want to inform market segments, such as bakeries, about envisaged developments, and what we can do for them."
