Cosun: other activities make up for decline in sugar

Royal Cosun announces an increase in its profit for 2016 in comparison with 2015. The projected decline in the profit on sugar was offset by firmer results on other activities, especially potatoes. The cooperative will pay €44.15 per tonne of quota beet supplied during the 2016 campaign.
Markusse to succeed Smith as CEO of Royal Cosun

Robert Smith is to stand down as President of the Executive Board and CEO of Royal Cosun on 1 June 2017. The managing director of Suiker Unie, Albert Markusse, will succeed him as Cosun’s CEO. Paul Mesters will succeed Albert Markusse as managing director of Suiker Unie.

As of 1st of July Mr Hans Schuil fulfills the position of CFO at Royal Cosun and at the same time became a member of the Executive Board. In his new role, Hans Schuil succeeds Ms Tine van de Werken, who left Cosun on the 1st of June.
Hans Schuil (47) studied in Business Economics at Tilburg University and was employed by Purac before he joined Cosun in 1997. He was active in several finance and corporate development (management) positions within Suiker Unie and Cosun before he was appointed in his current position of corporate controller (in 2010).
